About the Illumination Project: ILLUMINATION is an annual project of the Springfield History Museum that centers the voices and experiences of underrepresented communities in Springfield. Museum institutions have historically used gatekeeping and erasure in collection practices. They are working to address this harm with projects and special exhibits, that intentionally illuminate the stories and experiences of those who have been historically marginalized and who are currently underrepresented in the museum’s collection.
