About the Panelists:
Ken Provencher - CEO, PacificSource Health Plans
Ken Provencher serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of PacificSource Health Plans, just the fifth CEO in the company’s 86-year history. Immediately before his appointment to the post in 2001, Ken served as Vice President of Operations.
Prior to joining PacificSource in 1995, Ken served as vice president of VHA Upstate New York, a 15-hospital healthcare system. His background also includes experience as administrative director for United Health Services Network and director of finance and operations for HMO of North Carolina, a Blue Cross/Blue Shield subsidiary. Ken has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 30 years.
In addition to his post with PacificSource, Ken serves on the Marketplace Advisory Committee, the Alliance of Community Health Plans Board, and the board of the Oregon Health Leadership Council, a collaborative effort of health plans, hospitals and physicians formed to improve quality and reduce costs in Oregon’s healthcare system. Ken also participates on the Oregon State University School of Public Health Community Advisory Council and sits on the Board of Trustees of the OSU Foundation. In addition, he serves as a mentor in the American Health Insurance Plans Executive Leadership Program. His past board participation includes the Oregon Transitional Reinsurance Pool Board, United Way of Lane County, 100% Access and The Foundation for Medical Excellence. He is a frequent guest lecturer and panelist for healthcare issues.
Ken holds a master of business administration degree in healthcare management from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College.
Cassandra Moseley - Incoming Interim Vice President for Research and Innovation, University of Oregon
Cassandra Moseley is the incoming Interim Vice President for Research and Innovation at the University of Oregon (UO). As the Interim Vice President for Research and Innovation Moseley will serve as the UO’s chief research officer, working alongside the President and Senior Vice President and Provost to strengthen existing academic research programs and develop new partnerships and collaborations that make the UO a key contributor to the cultural, scientific, and economic development of the state, nation, and the world. She has also been serving as deputy incident commander for the UO’s COVID-19 Incident Management Team and has been critical in ensuring that the university’s research operations — and the entire university — are in a strong position to respond to the current pandemic crisis.
She joined the UO more than 18 years ago and has had a distinguished career as a scientist and academic. Moseley is a research professor in the Institute for a Sustainable Environment and directs the Ecosystem Workforce Program at the UO. She has studied the changing face of wildfire management in the West and has a particular focus on how natural resource policies affect rural communities, businesses and workers. She examines how communities organize to increase resiliency to economic, social and environmental change. Moseley received her doctorate in political science from Yale University and her bachelor’s in mathematics and government from Cornell University.
