Los Monarcas was created in early 2018 as part of Minor League Baseball’s Diversity initiative. The Eugene Emeralds were selected as one of 30+ teams that season to create an alternate identity for the club, focused on creating a more welcoming atmosphere in the ballpark for the Latino community. The Los Monarcas name represents all that is wonderful about migration and the journey that so many Latino families have had to endure in creating a life for themselves here in the US.
