DIY Class at BRING: Intro to Furniture Restoration (2-DAYS)
Give worn or damaged furniture new life through restoration and repair. This two-day class teaches core upcycling skills, from surface refinishing to fixing structural components. Participants gain practical, hands-on experience that supports long-lasting, sustainable furniture use. Day 1: Refinishing Fundamentals (Jan. 24 from 1 – 4 PM) Learn how to choose a restoration-ready piece and prepare it for refinishing. Instruction covers safe shop practices, common restoration challenges, and hands-on work with veneer, stain, wood fillers, and paint removers. You will leave with foundational skills for successful refinishing projects. Day 2: Cabinet Doors, Drawers, and Hardware (Jan. 25 from 1 – 4 PM) Focus on repairing the functional parts of furniture and cabinetry. Participants will work with hinges, drawer pulls, handles, slides, and basic cabinet and drawer joints. By the end of the class, you will be able to troubleshoot issues and complete safe, effective repairs that extend the life of your furniture.

Pre-registration is required. You must be 18 years or older to participate. We offer two price points for each class. General Admission is the standard class price. Oregon SNAP Card holders and those with similar income levels may register for Reduced-price Admission. There will be a limited number of Reduced-price admissions available for each class. Please pick the admission price most appropriate for you. Refund Policy: We are happy to provide a full refund with a minimum of 7 days notice. This allows us enough time to fill your spot.
