Chamber Roundtable: The Next Play for Lane County's Visitor Economy
Lane County has a billion-dollar visitor economy that supports thousands of jobs, small businesses, and public services across the region.
Join us Tuesday, February 17th, for a timely Roundtable conversation with Samara Phelps, President and CEO of Travel Lane County on the proposed Indoor Multi-Use Sports and Events Facility, a project being evaluated as one of the most promising opportunities to expand winter and shoulder season demand through targeted, high-impact investment. In January, Travel Lane County and the Lane County Board of Commissioners jointly committed up to $450,000 in Transient Lodging Tax revenues to advance a decision-grade feasibility process, which will evaluate site options, costs, ownership and operating models before any major decisions are made.
Samara will share where the project stands today, what the exploratory phase has confirmed about demand and community need, and why indoor sports tournaments offer a proven way to strengthen winter and shoulder-season visitation while supporting local athletes year-round.
This Roundtable is designed to help Chamber members understand how this project fits into the broader conversation about economic resilience and the strategic use of tourism-generated tax revenues. Join us to hear the latest, ask questions, and engage in an informed discussion about a proposal that could shape Lane County’s visitor economy for decades to come.
The Springfield Chamber thanks our Impact Investors for supporting Chamber Roundtable and Roundtable + TOUR programs year-round.
