BRIDGE CITY SINNERS

From the misty, pine-covered hills of the Pacific Northwest hail the Bridge City Sinners, who span the continuum from prohibition era jazz to Appalachian death folk. This traditional string band line up bends the meaning of the word genre, Playing festivals from Punk Rock Bowling, to Muddy Roots, to Oregon’s Bluegrass String Summit. They started their journey by busking on sidewalks across the country and  now this supergroup of musicians find themselves on the national tour circuit. The Sinners still hold true to the DIY mentality of putting albums out on a self made record label, Flail Records. They recently hit #70 on the Billboard charts, top current album sales, for the week of September 4th 2021 for their album “Unholy Hymns”. With talented musicianship and a punk as f***! live show, this is one band you don’t want to miss.

CODEFENDANTS

Fat Mike of NOFX‘s newly launched project, Codefendants, are the breath of fresh air and the steel-toe-cap kick in the nuts music has needed for too long. Get Dead vocalist Sam King’s graffiti crew were giving tattoos and making flash art to raise money to help rapper Ceschi Ramos when he was in prison. Months later they met at the Gilman Street Project in Berkeley, California. They bonded, talking about their love of hip-hop and punk rock, over a bottle of Jameson. They didn’t know it yet, but they had just started Codefendants. Impossible to define by traditional standards, Codefendants were forged out of a desire to make an album that sounded like nothing else; a completely genre-fluid album, a cross between hip hop, new-wave, flamenco, and the Beatles. They call the genre ‘Crime Wave’.

1876

1876 was formed in early 2020 and immediately debuted the EP “Pow Wow Punk Rock.”

With notable sounds that any pow wow goer will recognize, combined with the aggressive guitar playing, catchy melodies, and political lyrics of the punk world, 1876 expresses their unique perspective as “the city ndns your aunty warned you about.” 1876 proudly represents both the Northern Cheyenne and the Blackfeet nations, singing in both languages. From sweat lodges to punk clubs, 1876 helps shed light on a narrative often neglected by the music industry. 1876 was born in 2020 out of a dream of cultural and language resurgence being seen and produced by those who experience the hardships and triumphs of being born NDN.

CESCHI RAMOS

Ceschi Ramos’ music was born out of the worlds of underground Hip Hop, Hardcore Punk & Folk. His version of songwriting may include machine-gun-speed-raps or emotive ballads inspired by Latin American troubadours. Over the last decade he has toured North America, Europe, Asia & Australia. In 2008 he started his own independent label called Fake Four & has amassed a cult following worldwide. Although it’s difficult to describe the type of music that Ceschi makes, it is not difficult to feel the ferocious heart that is behind it all.
