Thomas Pettus-Czar was born in Texas, grew up in the Southwest, and went to college at the University of Kansas. In 2009, he was happy to land in the place where he calls home here in the Springfield/Eugene area where he began graduate study in Architecture at UO...but promptly dropped out to pursue his dream of opening what became The Barn Light, a coffee shop and bar in downtown Eugene and subsequently a coffee roasting/café business called Farmers Union.
Thomas strongly believes that the role of a small business owner goes well beyond the walls of one's own business and that just as much time should be spent working to improve the community within which that business resides. He has served on a number of boards and committees in Eugene toward this end, and is currently on the board of Northwest Community Credit Union.
