City Finances in Focus: Budget, Stability, and the Payroll Tax
The City of Springfield is in the midst of an important conversation about its financial future, and what it will take to ensure stability while maintaining essential services.
At this month’s Roundtable, Nathan Bell, Finance & IT Director for the City of Springfield, will provide a look at the City’s current budget forecast and the factors shaping it, including the general fund deficit identified in 2024.
As part of this broader budget conversation, Bell will also outline the proposed payroll tax currently under consideration by City Council, including how it is structured and how it is projected to impact the City’s finances in the near term.
