Lizz Wright MLK Event
We are thrilled to host internationally acclaimed artist, Lizz Wright at our annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Commemoration event.
Praised by The New York Times for her “rich, soulful contralto,” Wright blends jazz, gospel, soul, and folk into deeply moving performances. Over her 20+ year career, she has earned multiple Grammy nominations, recognition from the Jazz Journalists Association, and chart-topping albums like Dreaming Wide Awake.
Rooted in spirituals and themes of resilience, dignity, and human connection, her music reflects the ideals championed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This concert is not just a night of extraordinary music—it’s a meaningful way to honor his legacy through shared reflection and hope.
Admission is free, and donations to our Titan Student Food and Clothing Pantry will be gratefully accepted. See below for suggested donations.
From Lane's President, Dr Stephanie Bulger:
"At Lane Community College, we believe Dr. King’s legacy lives on through the connections we build and the community we nurture. Hosting Lizz Wright offers a moment for all of us to gather, celebrate, and reflect on the shared values that strengthen us. This event is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with unity and intention." We hope you can join us for this special, free community event. Reserve a seat here.
