No military force has yet to defeat the extraterrestrial threat in combat. Major William Cage is thrust into this conflict\, untrained in battle\, and dies in the first few moments of the fighting. Through a strange loop in time\, William is jolted back to life to the morning prior\, and must relive the nightmarish combat once more. With the aid of Soldier Rita Vrataski\, Cage must find a way to end the war to escape his recursive fate.
