SUMMARY:Coversation Project: Mind the Gaps: How Gender Shapes Our Lives
DESCRIPTION:From the moment we are born\, gender shapes every aspect of our lives: our interests\, opportunities\, and how we move through the world. In the twenty-first century\, disparities among the genders still prevail\, especially at the intersections of race\, class\, immigration status\, and geography. What can these disparities tell us about society's values and priorities? How can we better understand the complex ways gender affects our daily lives and identities?\n\nJade Aguilar\, assistant professor of sociology and women's and gender studies at Willamette University\, will lead participants in a conversation about these questions and examine ways of finding meaning within gender gaps.\n\nThe Conversation Project brings Oregonians together to talk across differences\, beliefs\, and backgrounds about important issues and ideas. A series of Conversation Project events will be hosted by the City of Springfield's Committee for Diversity and Inclusion and Springfield Library the third Wednesday of the month January through April 2017\n\nLibrary Meeting Room.
