Plank Town presents: Springfilm, “Made in Oregon,” screening Personal Best
The monthly film and discussion event, Plank Town Presents: Springfilm Made in Oregon continues this February with Personal Best. Through August 2017, Springfilm features a monthly free screening of a film that was made in Oregon.
Please join us at the Wildish Theater for a free screening of Personal Best. This film centers on a group of women trying to qualify for the American track-and-field team bound for the 1980 Olympic Games. Personal Best was praised by critics for providing a realistic look at the world of women's athletics, for exploring the complex relationships that can exist among teammates and their coach, and for its sensitive portrayal of the relationship between an older lesbian (Donnelly) and a younger bisexual woman (Hemingway). Filming locations include Hayward Field and the nearby Track Town Pizza.
Starring Mariel Hemingway, Scott Glenn, and Patrice Donnelly; directed by Robert Towne; 124 minutes; 1982.
Watch the film and stay for a short after-film discussion! The ongoing film series is presented by Plank Town Restaurant and Brewery and coordinated by a partnership between the Springfield Library and Willamalane Park & Recreation District.
Springfilm: Made in Oregon will continue at 6:30 p.m., March 2 with Drugstore Cowboy.
